Project Overview

Ten high school students rehearsed together to put together an audio play of The Diary of Anne Frank to be used as a resource for the KUSD middle school teachers and students who study this play every spring as part of the required curriculum. Students were given scripts and assigned parts and after only two rehearsals (due to a quarantine) recorded the audio play on our stage with mics and an audio engineer. Students were chosen because of their dramatic pursuits and interest in telling important stories. They worked on clarity of speech and inflection as readers/actors so that students listening and following along with the play in class could better imagine and understand this important play. This dedicated group brought the play to life with their voices. The addition of sound effects to enhance the experience, along with a website to share the cast list and a study guide, brought the project to another level. We hope this audio play will be used as a resource for many years to come and will aid in the remembrance and importance of sharing stories of the Holocaust.
