Project Overview
Twelfth-grade art and literature students at High Tech High in San Diego, California visited the San Diego Museum of Art to study different artists. Each student selected a painting and researched the artist’s motive for creating the work and the motifs that inspired them.
They returned to the museum for an intensive investigation into the works so that they could ascertain exactly how the artists painted their works, observing brush strokes, type of canvas used, and even the type of paint. They then set about trying to capture the essence of the artists by using their motives and motifs. The final product was a book that shows the record of their research and creative endeavors. The book can be purchased here.
