Project Overview
These two blueprints of fantasy (ideal) bedroom were created by a 5th/6th grade student at the Shutesbury Elementary School in Shutesbury, Massachusetts as part of an extensive exploration of architecture. The images shown here are two different perspectives of the same bedroom design: the first is in ½ inch scale of one section of the bedroom suite and the second is a ¼ inch scale of the entire bedroom suite.
Students used standard architectural scales and followed professional blueprint creation techniques. They worked with professional architects, getting regular critique on the drafts of their work. This student’s work combines architectural features with interior design elements such as furniture, color and other details.
This is a highly engaging project for students that involves their imagination, creativity craftsmanship and understanding of architectural design, as well as math skills
