Project Overview

Elementary students at the Enterprise Charter School in Buffalo, New York, created this brochure of their local botanical gardens to be used by other students. Students visited the gardens, consulted with plant experts, and researched their plants via written and online sources.

How This Project Can Be Useful

  • A useful format (tri-fold brochure) for organizing and displaying content by young children
  • Nicely integrates simple text with digital photography
  • Shares information about plants in a way that young students can understand
  • Illustrates what is interesting to students since they picked the plants for the brochure
  • An example of a product with an authentic audience and that serves a real purpose – creating a brief guide to a local site for other students
