Community Chicken Coops

Bertie County is home to a Perdue chicken plant, which means many farmers raise broiler chickens (up to 250,000 at a time!) for the company.

Meals and Muppets

In this interdisciplinary project, 7th-grade students looked at the essential question: “Should I eat that?” Inspired by student voices criticizing our school’s lunch program, students dove deeply into a holistic investigation about the food we eat.

Wooden Spoons

In the fall project for the 2015-2016 school year, high school students painstakingly designed, carved, and finished individual spoons or eating utensils that represented their family or personal identity.

Farmstands

Following the opening of the Windsor Farmers Market, the next class of 27 high school students wanted to build off of its success.

Tiny Homes for the Homeless

During the 2014-2015 academic year, 85 high school students from REALM Charter School identified affordable housing as a social challenge they wanted to tackle using community-based architecture.

Windsor Farmer's Market

In the first Studio H project ever, thirteen high school students from Bertie County, NC designed and constructed a 2000-square-foot farmers market for their hometown of 2000 residents.

Line Designs

Seventh-grade students in regular Math 7 and Advanced Pre-Algebra classes at Pizitz Middle School created these designs for a project that helped students develop an understanding of geometric concepts such as measurement, symmetry, segments, angles, circles and regular polygons.

If the Shoe Fits

Sixth-grade students at Christa McAuliffe Charter School in Framingham, Massachusetts created a website as a final product of a learning expedition called “Me, My Stuff and Why?”

End of Year Fashion Show

As part of their Clothes topic, Kindergarten students at St. Paul's School organized a fashion show to be their end of year presentation to the school community. Outfits were completely done by the pupils from beginning to end.
