In an “Introduction to Rhetoric” unit, Seniors at WHEELS studied various commencement and convocation speeches and wrote rhetorical analysis essays around the essential question, “How can words compel action?”  Then, using a newly acquired rhetorical toolkit, students crafted motivational speeches for incoming ninth grade students at WHEELS.

The fourth-grade crew at Palouse Prairie Charter School embarked on a four-month long journey to write a story that had not yet been told. First, students learned about basic geologic processes to understand many different ways that geology shapes our world.

For their spring 2022 expedition, the Centaur class was asked the question, “Where in the World is Santa Fe?” During this expedition, we began learning about geography through the lens of the five Themes of Geography.

The eighth grade teaching team at ASCEND planned an interdisciplinary expedition around water. In science, students conducted water testing, in humanities they created podcasts from interviews of people’s memories associated with water, and did watercolors in art.
