Twelfth grade English and Digital Arts students at High Tech High in San Diego, California created this book in the Fall of 2011 as part of a study on becoming more aware of their own surroundings in order to foster an educated, ethical, and empathetic community.
Students at Polaris Expeditionary Learning School participated in coral restoration efforts on a reef in the Florida Keys and spread the message about their learning and experiences through presentations, music, and video.
Students from The Northwest Opportunities Vocational Academy (NOVA) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin created the March to Equality exhibition in collaboration with Arts @ Large, Kid Curators, LLC, and numerous community partners.
In an “Introduction to Rhetoric” unit, Seniors at WHEELS studied various commencement and convocation speeches and wrote rhetorical analysis essays around the essential question, “How can words compel action?” Then, using a newly acquired rhetorical toolkit, students crafted motivational speeches for incoming ninth grade students at WHEELS.
